BREATHTAKING DISPLAY OF ARTISTRY
Riverdance 20 Years, the Irish step dancing dynasty that’s swept away millions of theatergoers since making its debut in the mid 1990s, hasn’t lost a touch of the creative current that’s made it an international phenomenon throughout the years.
The presentation has arguably swelled in its comeback tour design that brings together a five piece bands, live vocals, and a collection of poetic passages to illustrate the fluctuation of Irish history from the Emerald Island’s shores to countryside interior. The past and the present collide in an offering that’s best described as an orgy of sight and sound.
More than thirty cultural caregivers dressed in stunning attire give a toe tapping, heel whacking, foot stomping salute to their beloved homeland with traditional Irish music supplying a dulcet backdrop. The breathtaking display of artistry transcends time and space riding a spiritual crest that will have you packing your bags for the next flight to Dublin.
There’s something to be said about the international flavour of the farewell tour which includes a zesty Baritone, several Russian dancers, and a Flamenco soloist.
But it’s the principal dancers that keeps Riverdance from running dry. These are discipline masters that have made Irish step innovation their religion.
And while the dance and music is full force behind the production, there’s no denying the power behind the show’s intrepid lighting design and admirable back projections to enhance the settings.
If you weren’t Irish going into Riverdance 20 Years, you will be applying for citizenship soon after.
