Rebecca Northan is up to her old tricks on Bridgman Avenue once again after her international hit, Blind Date, closed the 2016/17 season with a surprise return.
Audiences can prepare for another night of interactive adventures with Northan and Bruce Horak’s newest work – One grizzled cop. One audience-member-turned-rookie-detective. One unsolved case.
Rebecca Northan (creator of Dora Award-winning, international sensation Blind Date) and her partners in crime are back at Tarragon to recruit one intrepid audience member for an undercover ride into the criminal mind. When everyone’s a suspect, will our rookie detective be able to sort the clues from the red herrings, point the finger at the right perpetrator and see that justice is served?
The show starts in the lobby. Get ready, it’s murder on the Tarragon stage and the audience is going undercover!
Undercover reunites a cast who’ve been collaborating together for over 25 years. “Dennis Cahill taught us all to improvise” notes Northan. “We’re like family and we’ll be bringing that family dynamic to the performance as we find ways to weave our own truths into the show.
This level of connectedness and familiarity helps a lot in a production where audience members become part of the piece, “Every show is different, we get to have a lot of fun together and with audience members. I’m so glad we’ll all be on stage together again,” states Northan.
“Something exciting is always afoot when Rebecca Northan is at Tarragon – we can’t wait to kick off the 2017/18 season by introducing the world to Undercover,” notes Artistic Director Richard Rose. “I hope audiences come to Tarragon to see Undercover with their detective hats on – they’re going to need them!”
Undercoverfeatures a cast of longtime collaborators including Christy Bruce (Tarragon and London’s West End Blind Date, TV: “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “Orphan Black”), Denni Cahill (Artistic Director of The Loose Moose Theatre in Calgary, FILM: FUBAR 2, The Legend of Whitey), Terra Hazelton (Gemini nominated actress, Loose Moose Theatre, FILM: FUBAR 2, TV: “Orphan Black”, “Mary Kills People”), Jamie Northan (US tour, Canadian tour, London’s West End Blind Date) and Rebecca Northan (co-writer, US tour, Canadian Tour, London’s West End Blind Date, FILM: The ‘F’ Word, Mr.Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, TV: “This Hour Has 22 Minutes”, RADIO: Because News, CBC) and Bruce Horak (co-writer, Assassinating Thomson, This Is Cancer.
